In July of 2009 I will be joining the Denver Arthritis Clinic, and I feel privileged to be part of such an excellent healthcare organization. It is an exciting time to be practicing in the field of rheumatology. Treatments for autoimmune diseases and rheumatic conditions are advancing rapidly. In addition, our current understanding of immunology allows these therapies to be designed and directed with a specificity that is unparalleled in the history of medicine. With this proliferation of available medications comes the responsibility of balancing the risks and benefits of particular treatment decisions. I consider it a great honor to be entrusted by my patients with this task, and I seek to individualize, with compassion and empathy, my approach to their care. My goal is to form a health care partnership between the patient and myself. I strive to educate and inform about disease and available treatments so that my patients may become equal and active participants in their health care. Good communication with my patient’s primary care providers is vital, so that a network of health care professionals is available to manage the often complicated set of circumstances that patients can sometimes face. Together we can make the greatest positive strides toward health and well-being. My interests outside of medicine include spending time with family, travel, the outdoors, reading and amateur motorsports.
