Starting As a New Patient: How It Works

If you’re an outside patient whose primary care provider or specialist is referring you to us, there are a few steps you need to take before getting started with your treatment. Our team is here to answer any questions you may have, and we’re committed to making the process as smooth and seamless as possible.

Here’s how the process works:

Your provider will send your referral to the DAC. We will then submit your information to your insurance to obtain a Prior Authorization.

Documents needed from your provider to start the prior authorization process include:

  • Medication order form
  • Medical records
  • Your demographics and insurance information

Once everything is received from your referring provider, this process can take up to two weeks, depending on how quickly your insurance replies to our request for authorization.

We have a team dedicated to medication prior authorizations. They will submit the information needed to start the authorization process as soon as we receive your orders.

Insurance companies can take days or weeks to review this information and make a decision. We will do our best to keep you posted, but please feel free to contact our office with any questions or concerns. We’re happy to help.
